Hymn: “What limits has love?” (Acts 10:9-17)

t. Hanover (O worship the King)

What limit has love? What limits have we?

Love challenges lines, sets captive souls free

From cramped cells of selfishness, prisons of greed

Love frees us to see and to meet others’ need.

What limit has love? What limits have we?

Can I only love those who are like me?

Though, shocked, I’d deny it, does my love have bounds?

God’s vast love my loving self-image confounds.

What limit has love? The Vision made clear

To Peter how strongly difference and fear,

The rules that exclude, and the cant that divides

Resist love’s all-loving – yet love overrides.

What limit has love? His dream in that place –

God’s table-cloth spread, the feast of God’s grace –

What God has accepted can Peter think odd?

What limit has love? Ask “What limits has God?”
